This daguerreotype was taken by Sheriff Jack Gordon shortly after Dr. Christopher Cullen performed an emergency trepanation on Thomas Clint.
Following a severe head injury, Thomas Clint was treated in Crossroads Sheriff’s Office by Dr. Christopher Cullen, who determined that a trepanation was necessary to relieve pressure and save his life. The procedure became one of the most remarkable medical events recorded in Ironwood County.
